My Summer Hair Cocktail
As my hair has grown out from a very short pixie to an Olivia Newtown-John circa “Let’s Get Physical” mullet (goals!), I’ve embraced my curly hair again. Curly hair requires a bit more prep and coercing. I’m constantly trying out new products and layering them to achieve lively, fully formed waves. It’s a fine line between too much product weighing hair down and not enough leaving it unmanageable.
Fresh out of the shower I spritz the top of hair with Drunk Elephant Wild Marula Tangle Spray. This allows me to brush through it effortlessly and acts as a primer giving it a little “oomph”. I also love the scent and the way it moisturizes my hair and scalp.
Next, I let it air dry for a bit. Then I tousle my hair all over with my hands and fingers, drying it more in the process. At this point, I like spray a generous amount of Davines OI All In One Milk all over while scrunching my hair from ends to roots, to literally form the curls. This is a lightweight leave-in treatment that controls frizz and brings out the curl. I use this product on all of my “curlied” hair clients, it makes my job so easy.
After the air drying I take my T3 Cura Luxe Hair Dryer ( my go to) with a diffuser attachment and dry for about 3-5 minutes while scrunching and twisting. I like to apply while my hair is damp and then again after my it has dried and the curls are fully formed. It’s like a lip balm for you hair and can be re applied throughout the day.
